Cathedral Oasis with Labyrinth

Cathedral Oasis with Labyrinth

An Open Time for Peace and Reflection - Sunday, August 24, 2025 12noon-1:30pm

We have added an exciting element for folks that visit: a walking labyrinth!

We have a seven-circuit Chartres-style canvas labyrinth for all summer use at Cathedral Oasis. It is 24 feet across! Come and explore.

The labyrinth offers an accessible meditative experience through an interactive representation of the twists and turns of life, with God always at the centre, drawing us closer and closer.
Please pray for all who visit us during these summer months!

Our doors are open one Sunday per month for anyone to drop in for peace and reflection in the middle of our busy city.  Feel free to light a candle, say a prayer, or just sit quietly in this beautiful space. Maybe you have never been in the Cathedral and just want to have a look around?  Maybe you would just like to listen to some quiet, peaceful music?  Whoever you are, whatever brings you to our doors, you are very welcome. If you have any questions during your visit, there is someone on hand from our Cathedral Community.

For level access please go to the reception door to the left of the main Cathedral entrances.

Please contact the Cathedral Office if you have any questions.

Not just Art Crawl but... SuperCrawl!

Not just Art Crawl but... SuperCrawl!

Friday September 12 - Sunday September 14

We offer the beauty of our space to those who wish to take a moment of reflection or prayer.
We also provide guided tours, musical performances and art Installations.

Would you like to volunteer to help out at Supercrawl and be part of our vibrant Cathedral Team?     Sign Up Today!
See the Greeters and ask for the sign up sheets, or call our volunteer lead John Watts for more information: 905-906-2033.

Plan ahead as parking restrictions may apply in the James St. N. area. Permits will be required for use of the Cathedral parking lot.

WANTED: Handbell and Cathedral Criers

Normally at Supercrawl the central, west doors are open to welcome the public, but access that way will not be possible this year.
To attract visitors this year, we want to use “cathedral criers” once per hour (or so).  For this to occur we need a handbell of the type teachers used to use before electronic buzzers.  We also need people who believe that they have the voice and demeanour to take on the role of “Cathedral Crier” for about three hours – a script will be
provided.
If you can provide a handbell or are willing to become a crier for a day, contact Sandy Darling or the Cathedral administrator.
Supercrawl: September 12-14, 2025

The Litany of Reconciliation

The Litany of Reconciliation

Please join us. Fridays 12:15 -12:30 pm

As a member of the Community of the Cross of Nails, we gather weekly at noon on Fridays to pray for peace, justice, and reconciliation.   We start our prayer with:

We stand together at this Friday noon hour to join with all those churches, schools, and other institutions who have committed themselves to the Community of the Cross of Nails. We search for reconciliation between ourselves and all those who have been harmed by war, by violence, by the effects of colonization and abuses of power, and by greed, selfishness, thoughtlessness and indifference.

Please click on Litany of Reconciliation for the prayer in its entirety.

A brief history of  the Litany of Reconciliation can be found on The Anglican Diocese of Ontario website.

Peace with Creation

Peace with Creation

Climate Justice Cathedral: Season of Creation

The Season of Creation (September 1 to October 4) is an annual global celebration that unites Christians of all traditions in prayer, reflection, and action for the protection of God’s creation.

The prophet Isaiah pictured the desolated Creation without peace because of the lack of justice and the broken relationship between God and humankind.

Our Hope

Creation will find peace when justice is restored.  There is still hope and the expectation for a peaceful Earth.  To hope in a biblical context does not mean to stand still and quiet, but to act, pray, change, and reconcile with Creation and the Creator in unity, metanoia (repentance), and solidarity.

A Solar Suitcase

This year, Alongside Hope is turning their energy toward light. A Solar Suitcase is a bright yellow power system that brings light and life-saving equipment to maternal health clinics in rural communities. A donor has stepped forward with a $150,000 matching gift. That means every dollar you give will be doubled, up to that amount. Visit our solar suitcase webpage to see our progress.
