Today, we especially give thanks and praise

for God’s call on the lives of Reverend Canon J. Lefebvre and Reverend Dr. Eric Griffin to serve the Church as priests. Rev. J. was ordained to the priesthood at St. Christopher’s Burlington on April 21 1986, and Rev. Eric at St. Paul’s Westdale on May 1,  1986.
They have now ministered with generous love in this capacity for 40 years, blessing countless folk including us.
We celebrate them and their extraordinary faithfulness and pray God’s continued and abundant blessing upon them and their fruitful ministries.

Wednesday, May 6, 2026 7pm-8:30pm

We invite you to join us in person or on our YouTube channel for our upcoming Cathedral Chat on Intimate Partner Violence, gender-based violence and sexual violence, impacting many individuals and families.  People across all economical, cultural and social backgrounds are affected.  It is critical that we promote healthy relationships in our community to help reduce gender-based violence.

Our dynamic panel of presenters will:

  • share lived experience
  • Identify the community supports available in our City of Hamilton
  • Provide actions that can be taken for the eradication of Intimate Partner Violence, gender-based violence, and sexual violence
  • And so much more!

Included is a Q & A after the presentations.
Please meet our panelists: (In-depth Bios are available here.)

Art Crawl

Art Crawl

Art Crawl is a wonderful way to experience Hamilton's growing art scene, do some local shopping, enjoy some downtown eateries, and visit some historical city sites.  The Cathedral has participated in Art Crawl since its inception.  Our doors are open.  Please feel free to wander in and explore the art, history,  and the beauty of our building.   We're happy to welcome you and we are available to answer any questions you may have.

Join us in the community and in the Cathedral every 2nd Friday of the month from May 2026 to October 2026.  Doors open at 7pm.

Please note that James St. North is closed to cars between York Boulevard and Murray Street, creating a pedestrian only summer street party.   For more information, visit The Guide to Hamilton's Art Crawl provided by Tourism Hamilton.

Volunteers Needed for Art Crawl

Volunteers Needed for Art Crawl

Art Crawl is a wonderful way to engage with the community and to celebrate our beautiful Cathedral!   The success of Art Crawl at the Cathedral relies heavily on volunteers.  We are currently looking for volunteers for our May 8, 2026 opening night starting at 7pm.

  • We need enough volunteers to have 2 shifts, so each shift would be for 1.5 hours
  • Some volunteers will be responsible for hospitality, including greeting & guest support.
  • A second set of volunteers will be responsible for Cathedral tours and information.
  • Orientation and training are available for both positions.

If interested, please email Anne Kae or the Cathedral Office.

Generosity Morsel April 2026

What are your gifts? What do you have in abundance? And how can you give that into the world (maybe even into our church) willingly, and with joy?

Each of us have situations that really matter to us, that tug at our hearts.

When we offer our gifts into these situations, we live from abundance thinking. And our giving helps us to spreads our love and inspires others to do the same. Keep your eyes and ears open in Christ’s Church Cathedral.

People in this congregation are giving their gifts freely every day, usually so quietly, and in ways that create even more abundance, inspiration and relationship.

We encourage you to notice, and maybe start a list of ways you can see this happening.

Thank you, thank you, for all that you give to this community.

Interac e-Transfer

Interac e-Transfer

Another Way to Give

Interac e-Transfer (electronic transfer) is a simple, convenient, and safe way to transfer money to others.  If you already use online banking, you have the ability to donate funds from your bank account directly to the Cathedral's bank account .

IMPORTANT NOTE

If this is your first time donating to the Cathedral,  please provide both your email and Canada Post mailing address in the message block available in your bank's e-transfer process.  Otherwise, we will not have sufficient information to provide you with an income tax receipt.

Additional information:

  • The email to use is cathedral@niagaraanglican.ca.
  • The Cathedral uses the Autodeposit option so that a security question is not required.
  • The message block referenced above is also useful to indicate where you'd like to direct the donation, e.g. altar flowers, The Sharyn Hall Art Fund,  Choral Scholarships etc.  Note:  If no direction is specified, the donation is automatically attributed to Parishioner Givings which supports our many ministry programs and our community at large.
  • Once you complete the e-Transfer process, you will receive an email indicating that your donation has been sent, and the Cathedral will receive a notification letting us know who made the donation, the amount of the donation, and confirmation that the donation has been deposited to the Cathedral's account.

Please feel free to visit our Give Page to explore more options for giving.  If you are new to Interac e-Transfers,  you may wish to visit Interac's website for more information.  You may also direct any questions or concerns  by e-mailing our Donation Administrator.

Thank you!

Safeguard the Integrity of God's Creation

Safeguard the Integrity of God's Creation

April's Action for Climate Justice Cathedral

As part of the liturgy for the Easter Vigil, and at every Baptism, we are called to renew our baptismal covenant including the question:

"Will you strive to safeguard the integrity of God's creation, and respect, sustain and renew the life of the Earth?"  Our response is "I will, with God's help."

CJC 's Action of the Month helps us live out this promise by encouraging us to pray, become informed, speak out about climate breakdown, and reduce our carbon footprint.  We can reduce food waste, drive less, buy less, save energy at home, plant trees and native species, and support environmental groups.

That’s our role and responsibility as stewards of creation.  Let’s tell our friends and colleagues!

Don Brown Climate Justice Work Featured in the Globe and Mail

We were so proud to see Don Brown highlighted in the April 21 article in the Globe and Mail about elders fighting to save the planet for future generations. At 100, Don inspires us all to keep active for climate justice.

May God bless him, the Elders for Climate Sanity, and our own Climate Justice Cathedral members and their efforts.

Cuba's Electrical Grid Collapses

Cuba's electrical grid collapses amid U.S. oil blockade.

*Headline from The Guardian March 16th, 2026

Humanitarian demands have  increased in Cuba due to Hurricane Melissa and the cessation of oil being shipped via Venezuela.  Millions in Cuba are vulnerable.  They have critical shortages of fuel, medicine, food, and water.

Alongside Hope is continuing its longtime support of the Episcopal church in Cuba. This year’s focus has been on solar generators to insure clean water independent of the grid.  Please remember Cuba in your prayers.  Every day is a new crisis but Alongside Hope is partnering here at home and overseas to be a trusted ally.
