Art Crawl

Art Crawl

May 8, 2026 from 7pm

Art Crawl is a wonderful way to experience Hamilton's growing art scene, do some local shopping, enjoy some downtown eateries, and visit some historical city sites.  The Cathedral has participated in Art Crawl since its inception.  Our doors are open.  Please feel free to wander in and explore the art, history,  and the beauty of our building.   We're happy to welcome you and we are available to answer any questions you may have.

Join us in the community and in the Cathedral every 2nd Friday of the month from May 2026 to October 2026.  Doors open at 7pm.

Please note that James St. North is closed to cars between York Boulevard and Murray Street, creating a pedestrian only summer street party.   For more information, visit The Guide to Hamilton's Art Crawl provided by Tourism Hamilton.

Volunteers Needed for Art Crawl

Volunteers Needed for Art Crawl

Art Crawl is a wonderful way to engage with the community and to celebrate our beautiful Cathedral!   The success of Art Crawl at the Cathedral relies heavily on volunteers.  We are currently looking for volunteers for our May 8, 2026 opening night starting at 7pm.

  • We need enough volunteers to have 2 shifts, so each shift would be for 1.5 hours
  • Some volunteers will be responsible for hospitality, including greeting & guest support.
  • A second set of volunteers will be responsible for Cathedral tours and information.
  • Orientation and training are available for both positions.

If interested, please email Anne Kae or the Cathedral Office.

The service lasts about a half an hour.  If you have any questions about Taizé, please contact Bruce Burbidge.

May's Action: Go Native!

May's Action: Go Native!

Climate Justice Cathedral

If you have a garden or just a plant or two outside or on a balcony, plant native species!

They need less fertilizer, less pesticides, they are less susceptible to diseases, they are low maintenance, and they look great!  Plants also clean up our air.  And native species are not invasive.  By choosing native species, you are giving the local ecosystem (and us!) a better chance at a sustainable existence.

The internet has lots of information about native plants and invasive species,  and you can also talk to our own Bishopsgate gardeners.  You may also wish to refer to Your Guide to Ontario Native Plants .

Every step in the right direction counts!

Middle East Emergency: Humanitarian Coalition

Alongside Hope

"Since February 28th, violence in the Middle East has escalated at a rapid pace. Alongside Hope is part of the Humanitarian Coalition against Hunger. As a member of the Foodgrains Bank they are able to contribute to the ongoing efforts to provide food, water and shelter in Lebanon and Syria. The Humanitarian Coalition is monitoring and scaling up for work in Afghanistan, Gaza, Iraq, Jordan, Turkiye and the West Bank." *Quote from article published on March 17, 2026 by Janice Biehn

The following prayer was issued in a statement by The Most Reverend Hosam Nouam, Archbishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem:

“We implore God to protect the innocent – the mothers, the children and the elderly – who are caught in the crossfire of this ‘operation Epic Fury’ and the subsequent ‘crushing responses.’ We pray specifically for a ‘sound mind’ for the leaders of the United States, Israel and Iran, that they might recognize the futility of this bloodshed and turn back from the precipice of a global catastrophe.” *Prayer from article "Archbishop in Jerusalem & the Middle East Shares Pastoral Letter..."

Generosity Morsel

What are your gifts? What do you have in abundance? And how can you give that into the world (maybe even into our church) willingly, and with joy?

Each of us have situations that really matter to us, that tug at our hearts.

When we offer our gifts into these situations, we live from abundance thinking. And our giving helps us to spreads our love and inspires others to do the same. Keep your eyes and ears open in Christ’s Church Cathedral.

People in this congregation are giving their gifts freely every day, usually so quietly, and in ways that create even more abundance, inspiration and relationship.

We encourage you to notice, and maybe start a list of ways you can see this happening.

Thank you, thank you, for all that you give to this community.

Gift of Financial Securities

Gift of Financial Securities

Another Way to Give

Thinking about making a donation to Christ’s Church Cathedral?

Do you own publicly traded securities in a non-registered investment account?

If you replied yes to those two questions, donating publicly traded securities directly to a registered charity is a smart and tax-effective alternative to donating cash.  The potential tax benefits will vary based on your situation.  Before making a decision, we strongly recommend  consulting your Financial Advisor or Accountant.
